Abbie Stockard of Alabama took center stage at the Walt Disney Theatre at the Dr. Phillips Center for Performing Arts in Orlando, Florida, as she was crowned Miss America 2025. Stockard, 22, captivated the judges and audience with her poise, talent, and advocacy, marking Alabama’s first win in the prestigious competition since 2005. Her victory not only shines a spotlight on her state but also emphasizes the importance of the Miss America Organization’s dedication to empowering young women through scholarships and service.

A nursing student and cheerleader at Auburn University, Stockard impressed with her discussion about the decreasing labor force among 25 to 54-year-olds following the COVID-19 pandemic during the competition. “I believe we need to encourage those [people] to join the workforce, adapt to new skills, and learn to grow in our current workforce and industries we have today,” she said, according to People. Her insightful response showcased her commitment to addressing critical economic issues and promoting growth in a post-pandemic world.

Stockard showcased her talent with a contemporary dance to a song by Christian musician Lauren Daigle, a performance that drew widespread praise for its grace and emotional depth. During the eveningwear portion, she dazzled the audience in a backless, glittering silver-and-white gown, exuding confidence and elegance, according to CNN.

Stockard emerged victorious from a competitive field of 51 contestants representing all 50 states and the District of Columbia. As the new Miss America, she will travel the country as a spokesperson and advocate for her platform while serving as an ambassador for the Miss America Organization. Along with the crown, Stockard received a $50,000 scholarship, which she plans to use for graduate studies in education policy.

In her acceptance speech, Stockard expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent Alabama and spoke about the broader impact of the competition. “I feel so loved. I feel like the most celebrated girl in the world,” she told On The Red Carpet moments after being crowned, according to ABC7.

The pageant’s co-hosts, television personality Alfonso Ribeiro and former Miss America Camille Schrier, praised Stockard for her confidence and commitment to social impact. The evening’s festivities included performances from the top 10 finalists, highlighting talents ranging from classical music to contemporary dance, showcasing the diverse skills of the contestants.

As Abbie Stockard begins her reign as Miss America 2025, she carries the hopes of many who look to her as a role model and advocate for positive change. Her journey promises to leave an indelible mark on the legacy of the Miss America Organization.
