Rachel Yoder’s hit novel is getting its long-awaited movie adaptation, and its first trailer is one wild ride. Amy Adams takes the lead role in this horror comedy about a distressed stay-at-home mom who’s convinced she’s turning into a dog.
According to its official logline, Nightb—- centers on an “artist who pauses her career to be a stay-at-home mom [and] seeks a new chapter in her life [who] encounters just that, when her nightly routine takes a surreal turn and her maternal instincts begin to manifest in canine form.”
The six-time Oscar nominee Amy Adams leads the cast of this film, and the first trailer sees her doing everything from eating dog food to walking on all fours. She’ll be joined by Scoot MacNairy, Mary Holland, Jessica Harper, Zoë Chao, Ella Thomas, Stacey Swift, Archana Rajan, Adrienne Rose White, Darius De La Cruiz, and Roslyn Gentle in supporting roles.
The movie was written and directed by Marielle Heller, who found critical acclaim with the biopics Can You Ever Forgive Me? and A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood. It will have its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 7, before heading to theaters on December 6.
