Anne Hathaway got her big break with the role of Mia Thermopolis in The Princess Diaries, and we’ll soon be reunited with this beloved heroine. The Oscar-winning actress is officially returning for the third film in this franchise, which will be directed by Adele Lim.

Hathaway confirmed her return on social media, by sharing a news story about the third The Princess Diaries film. She captioned with the words “Back to Genovia” and “the fairy tale continues” and shared a video of herself counting to three, intercepted with clips from the original film.

Adele Lim, who made her directorial debut with Joy Ride and wrote the scripts for Crazy Rich Asians and Raya and the Last Dragon, is coming on board as a director.

“As a diehard fan of the original Princess Diaries, I’m beyond excited to be a part of bringing the third iteration of this beloved franchise to life.  We look forward to celebrating its core tenants of female power, joy, and mentorship with audiences worldwide,” said Lin in a statement.

Anne Hathaway made her feature film debut in the adaptation of Meg Cabot’s beloved young adult novel The Princess Diaries in 2001, and starred in its sequel The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement in 2004. The cast of this franchise also included Julie Andrews, Héctor Elizondo, Heather Matarazzo, Mandy Moore, Caroline Goodall, Robert Schwartzman, and Chris Pine.
