Lady Gaga’s seventh studio album has been a long time coming, and its release is finally on the horizon. She gave us a taste of things to come with a new single “Disease”, which sees her going back to her dark pop roots, while also embracing electropop, EDM, and grungy sound.
Lady Gaga hits all the right notes with her new single, which sees her singing about her ability to heal a lover’s disease. “I could play the doctor / I can cure your disease, If you were a sinner / I could make you believe,” she sings in the chorus of this catchy track, which drew a comparison to some of her biggest early hits, including “Bad Romance”.
“Disease” will serve as the lead single on her highly-anticipated seventh studio album, which still doesn’t have a title or a release date. Lady Gaga described it as intense, ominous, unsettling, but also buoyant in an interview with Vogue while adding it will see her go back to her pop roots after her fiancé Michael Polansky encouraged her to.
“Disease” isn’t Gaga’s first single to hit the shelves this year. She found huge success with the Bruno Mars collaboration “Die with a Smile” and released a soundtrack album Harlequin just last month, which served as a companion piece to her new film Joker: Folie à Deux.
