‘Dutton Ranch’ Season 2 Is on the Way After That Pregnancy Reveal

Yellowstone’s expanding TV universe is keeping one of its newest spinoffs alive. According to the report, Dutton Ranch has been renewed and is expected to return for a second season after ending its first run with a string of dramatic developments, including a pregnancy reveal that changed the direction of the story.

The series, which arrived on Paramount+ in 2026, continues the story of Beth Dutton and Rip Wheeler, the couple played by Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser. Reilly said the creative team is approaching the show “one season at a time,” while Hauser noted that the production had been intense and left little room to think too far ahead. Reilly also suggested that the team already has an idea of where season 2 begins and how the story might move forward.

What the Season 1 Finale Set Up

The first-season finale left multiple plots unresolved. Oreana, played by Natalie Alyn Lind, learned she is pregnant, and Carter, played by Finn Little, is likely the father. The episode did not have time to confirm paternity before Oreana’s father, Rob-Will, was shot and killed by his brother, Joaquin. At the same time, Carter was kidnapped in retaliation aimed at Beth and Rip.

Several cast members are set to return, including Reilly, Hauser, Little, Juan Pablo Raba, J. R. Villarreal, Marc Menchaca and Lind. Annette Bening is also coming back, and Ed Harris will have a bigger role in the new season. Reilly said season 2 is expected to feel more like Ed Harris’s show and described the ensemble as a four-lead drama rather than simply a Beth-and-Rip vehicle. She also praised Bening and Harris for helping give the series added weight and credibility.

Not everyone is expected back. Jai Courtney’s character was killed off, so his return appears unlikely, while Hart Denton’s Chet and Ray McKinnon’s Dwight also died onscreen. Behind the scenes, the show has already undergone a change as well: Chad Feehan, who served as showrunner for season 1, is not returning after completing his work on the debut season.
