Directed by Mu Zhengyang, the film has reached a cumulative total of $112.5 million and follows eight ordinary mortals who must use their intelligence and bravery to outwit powerful deities and become the Eight Immortals.
Shenzhen Film Studio’s sports comedy Kung Fu Soccer dropped to second place in its third weekend, adding $33.9 million. Directed by Stephen Chow, the film has now grossed $286.6 million overall. The story centers on an amateur women’s team that blends martial arts with professional soccer as it competes for a major championship.
New Releases Enter the Top Five
Damai Entertainment’s sci-fi title The Decisive Moment debuted in third with $6.4 million for the weekend and $8.6 million including early screenings since its July 25 launch. Directed by Zhang Disha and produced by Huang Jianxin, the film was previously the closing title of the Shanghai International Film Festival. Set across two timelines, it follows three Chinese astronauts stranded in space in 2035 as they rely on a mysterious encrypted signal tied to a 1970 aerospace researcher.
Universal’s Obsession opened in fourth with $4.9 million, while Enlight Pictures’ youth drama A Part of Me finished fifth with $2.7 million in its second week. Directed by Ma Yingxin and starring Zhang Ruonan and Jolin Jin, the film has accumulated $21.6 million and tracks a friendship over two decades. Overall weekend box office in mainland China reached $102.3 million, and 2026 year-to-date revenue stands at $3.15 billion, down 33.6% from the same period in 2025.
