Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane are teaming up to introduce Ravi Muppa’s short film Incognito as the first release on a new YouTube Shorts channel called Oh Flip Shorts. The channel, which launches July 15, comes from producer Ranjan Singh and will feature Kashyap as curator.
According to the report, the plan is to premiere one new short film on the platform each month, with the aim of creating an audience and a sense of community around independent short-form storytelling. The launch is positioned as a curated space for filmmakers whose work is being championed by established names in Indian cinema.
Incognito stars Vikram Singh, Ayushi Nema and Dev Chauhan. Its story centers on a motel receptionist who is struggling financially and begins making money by selling hidden-camera footage of guests. The plot then turns when he films a woman who appears to be a trafficking victim, forcing him to choose between protecting himself and stepping in.
The short has already played at more than 20 international festivals, including the Oscar-qualifying Palm Springs International ShortFest. Kashyap said short films are an important way for directors to test their storytelling and practice the craft of shooting a story, while Motwane described Incognito as atmospheric and gripping, with an unexpected ending.
Plans for a feature-length version are already in development, with Invention Studios joining Flip Films and Campfire Studios as co-producers. Kashyap, Nicholas Weinstock, Divya Souza and Singh are attached as producers. Muppa, whose earlier development credits include Stree, Bala and The Family Man, said the project has been a special journey and that he is excited to expand it into a feature. Singh added that the channel will continue with monthly short-film premieres as it works toward building a community around the format.
