Britney Spears Shrugs Off L.A. Highway Video: ‘Nothing Is What It Seems’

Britney Spears has pushed back on the reaction to a recent video that showed her behaving unusually on a Los Angeles highway, telling followers that the clip does not tell the full story. In a social media post on Saturday, the singer addressed the footage and insisted that the public is only seeing a brief moment rather than the larger reality around it.

The video, which surfaced earlier in the week, appeared to show Spears standing through the moonroof of an SUV while it traveled on the 101 Freeway. According to reports, she was out of the moonroof for roughly two minutes as the vehicle continued along at highway speed before exiting and stopping at a gas station. Spears later shared a screenshot of the incident on Instagram and wrote that what people saw was only “two seconds of insanity,” adding that “nothing is what it seems.”

She also suggested that the brief moment was not as dramatic as it appeared, joking that she should come out of the roof more often. The highway incident comes amid other recent headlines involving Spears, including a report in May that she had been acting erratically during a dinner outing. Her representative said those claims were being exaggerated and criticized the ongoing scrutiny of the singer.

In April, Spears also pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor wet reckless charge after a March arrest on suspicion of DUI. As part of that plea deal, she agreed to a 12-month probation period, regular meetings with a psychologist and psychiatrist, and completion of a three-month DUI class.
