Prime Video may have ended The Wheel of Time after its third season, but the fantasy property is not disappearing from view. According to the report, the series, which built a large audience across multiple seasons, is now getting an unexpected new chapter in the form of a board game.
The project is called War of the Dragon: The Wheel of Time, and it is being described as the first board game ever based on Robert Jordan’s fantasy series. The game places players in the middle of the conflict between Rand’al Thor, played by Josha Stradowski in the show, and the Dark One. It is currently being funded on Kickstarter, where it has already collected more than $1.16 million from 6,156 backers.
A new release for fans of the fantasy world
According to the official description, the game is built around the struggle between light and darkness, with players battling across a world shaped by magic, ancient prophecies, and armies that can determine whether the setting is saved or destroyed. The gameplay combines tableau building, action selection, and area control, giving the project a strategic focus rather than a simple tie-in approach.
While the television series is no longer moving forward, the board game gives fans another way to engage with the franchise. The report says the game is expected to launch before the end of 2027, extending the property’s reach beyond streaming and into tabletop gaming. For followers of the show and the books, it represents a notable comeback for a canceled fantasy epic in a completely different medium.
