Comedian and actor Deon Cole experienced a challenging week, marked by hospitalization on his 53rd birthday and the subsequent evacuation from his Los Angeles home due to the ongoing wildfires.

On January 9, Cole shared a photo on Instagram from his hospital bed, expressing gratitude for the birthday wishes he received. He did not disclose the reason for his hospitalization but thanked his followers for their support.

Several celebrities expressed their support for Deon Cole, including Jamie Foxx, Nick Cannon, Kenya Barris, Busta Rhymes, Patti LaBelle, and Lamorne Morris, as reported by People. “Prayer warriors on deck ASAP,” Foxx wrote, while Busta Rhymes shared, “Happy Born Day and wishing you a healthy recovery King!” LaBelle added her heartfelt message, saying, “Love you Deon! Get well soon! ❤️.”

The following day, January 10, Cole posted a video from his car as he evacuated his home which was later shared by the Daily Mail. He described the chaos of leaving his residence and packing precious items, including flowers his late mother had given him before her passing in 2021. He wrote, “This day is devastating!!!! Left the hospital earlier, sick af, went home, then had to pack what I could to evacuate. As I drove away I seen the fire rising from behind my house, It’s a nightmare!!!”

In light of the fires, Cole had also previously canceled his planned birthday party earlier in the week, stating, “Don’t feel right to do my birthday party while people are losing everything they own and myself being under high alert for my own home.” He urged his followers to pray for the families affected by the fires.

Cole is a celebrated comedian, actor, and writer best known for his role as Charlie Telphy on the hit sitcom Black-ish, which earned him multiple award nominations. With a career spanning stand-up comedy specials, late-night writing gigs for The Tonight Show with Conan O’Brien, and starring roles in shows like Grown-ish and Angie Tribeca, Cole has solidified his place as a versatile entertainer in Hollywood. His sharp wit and relatable humor have made him a fan favorite on stage and screen alike.

Cole’s experience highlights the widespread impact of the Los Angeles wildfires, which have forced many residents to evacuate their homes.
