The Fast & Furious franchise is moving toward its end on the big screen, but the road ahead is not completely closed. According to the report, the series will wrap its theatrical run with Fast Forever, the 11th and final movie, due on March 17, 2028. Vin Diesel is set to return, and Jason Statham and Dwayne Johnson will also appear as Deckard Shaw and Luke Hobbs, following the success of their spin-off, Hobbs & Shaw.
Fast Forever is being directed by Louis Leterrier, with Christina Hodson and Michael Lesslie writing the script. While the film is expected to serve as a major farewell for the long-running action series, the franchise itself is not disappearing entirely. NBCUniversal announced in May that four television projects set in the Fast & Furious universe are in development, and Mike Daniels is attached to write the pilot for the first one.
In the meantime, viewers seem to be turning back to one of the franchise’s most celebrated entries. Fast Five, released in 2011 and directed by Justin Lin, is widely credited with reviving momentum for the series after a period of declining audience interest. The film earned nearly $650 million worldwide and was praised by critics for leaning into the franchise’s bigger, more chaotic style. At the moment, it is also performing well on streaming, ranking among the ten most-watched movies on Peacock in the U.S., with Reminders of Him leading the list.
For fans looking ahead to the final chapter, Fast Five offers a reminder of why the series became such a major blockbuster force in the first place. Its current streaming success suggests that interest in the franchise remains strong as it approaches its next big milestone.
