Variety is taking its Sports & Entertainment franchise to New York for the first time with a new interview studio set for July 16. The event will gather athletes, executives and media figures for a series of conversations focused on how sports storytelling, fandom and culture continue to evolve.
One of the featured participants is New York Knicks guard Jalen Brunson, who will speak with Kristin Lemkau, CEO of J.P. Morgan Wealth Management. Their discussion will center on financial education for athletes and Brunson’s work with the JPMorganChase Athlete Council, where he is helping encourage the next generation.
According to the report, the lineup also includes Jay Williams, Russell Wilson, Jimmie Johnson, Kristyn Cook and Carolyn Braff. Dani Cushion is also set to appear to discuss how fans are watching and engaging with sports in new ways, and how brands are trying to reach those audiences more effectively.
Variety co-president and publisher Dea Lawrence said the expansion reflects how closely sports and entertainment now intersect. The studio will use New York City as its backdrop while highlighting the people shaping the future of sports, streaming and broader entertainment culture.
