Kacey Musgraves has reportedly dropped three dates from her upcoming Middle of Nowhere tour, and so far there has been no public explanation for the change. According to reports from People and the Daily Mail, the singer-songwriter informed ticket holders by email that the tour’s opening night in Chicago on Thursday, August 20, would no longer take place.
The same notices also said that her Friday, August 29, performance in Boston and Wednesday, September 2, show in Brooklyn, New York City, had been canceled. A screenshot of the email, which fans appeared to share on Reddit, showed that refunds would be issued automatically to the original point of purchase. The message also apologized for the inconvenience.
Fan speculation grows online
Because the email did not include a reason, fans online began guessing at what may have led to the sudden changes. Some Reddit users speculated about production costs, venue concerns, or weak ticket sales, though none of those theories has been confirmed.
The cancellations came shortly after Musgraves drew attention to her new music video for “Mexico Honey,” a track tied to the Middle of Nowhere project. She posted about the video on Instagram and described it as a tribute to Mexico, noting that it was shot on 16mm film in Jalisco. A promotional tour post that includes the canceled dates is still pinned to her Instagram grid.
The development follows an earlier tour disruption for Musgraves last year, when she postponed a Nashville appearance after suffering a broken rib in a fall while in Mexico. At the time, she shared details of the injury on Instagram Stories and said she was in too much pain to travel or perform.
