Kelly Clarkson gave her Las Vegas audience an unfiltered update over the weekend, turning a personal health scare into a comic onstage confession. During her Studio Sessions residency at Caesars Palace on July 18, the singer told fans she wasn’t sure what was wrong with her, but said the previous night’s show ended with her rushing back to her room and feeling relieved there wasn’t a man around to witness the aftermath.
According to the report, Clarkson’s remarks were captured in a fan video that later circulated on Instagram. She laughed as she compared the experience to the food-poisoning scene in Bridesmaids, saying the movie had nothing on what she had gone through. She also joked that a man would never want to be intimate with her again after seeing her in that state.
The singer, who has been open about her single life since her split from Brandon Blackstock, wrapped up the story by praising the venue’s bathroom amenities, including its warm toilets. She then quipped that she would be single forever and would have to find another “weird” person out there. The moment fit Clarkson’s long-running reputation for speaking candidly with fans, something she has also done recently while discussing the end of The Kelly Clarkson Show.
Clarkson previously said her decision to step away from the daytime series was tied to wanting more focus on her personal life and her children. She and Blackstock shared two children, River and Remy, and Blackstock’s death was announced last year after it later emerged he had been privately battling cancer. Clarkson’s recent comments at the residency show that, even in a rough moment, she still knows how to turn embarrassment into a punchline.
