Neon is taking Na Hong-jin’s latest film, Hope, to San Diego Comic-Con for a special panel that will mark the South Korean filmmaker’s debut at the event. The presentation will center on the movie’s upcoming U.S. release, which Neon has set for September, following its premiere in competition at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
The Comic-Con session will include an exclusive introduction from Hoyeo, the Korean breakout star known for Squid Game, along with a longer conversation with Na and a first look at new footage from the film. According to the report, the movie is set in the isolated village of Hope Harbor, where a mysterious creature sparks chaos and a police-and-hunter search quickly turns into a fight for survival.

Na said in a statement that joining Comic-Con’s lineup is an honor and described Hope as a passion project that has been in development for 10 years. He also said he was looking forward to introducing the film to audiences before it reaches U.S. theaters in September.
The film drew strong reactions in Cannes, with Variety’s Jessica Kiang calling it one of the best and funniest action movies she has ever seen. It will next play as the centerpiece selection at the New York Asian Film Festival, where Na will also receive the Daniel A. Craft Award for Excellence in Action Cinema.
