Ted Lasso Season 4 Sneaks in a Taylor Swift-Inspired Kansas City Moment

Ted Lasso season four opens with a playful pop-culture wink that connects Taylor Swift’s Kansas City Eras Tour stop to one of the show’s newest story beats. In the premiere, Rebecca Welton, Keeley Jones and Leslie Higgins visit Ted in Kansas City as they try to persuade him to come back to England and coach AFC Richmond’s new women’s team.

While the group is out shopping, they end up inside Dazzle Me Moi, a local boutique full of rhinestone-heavy outfits that initially leaves Rebecca unimpressed. That changes after the store owner explains how the business survived a difficult stretch and later found momentum thanks to Swift’s concert visit to the city. According to the episode, a member of Swift’s team stopped in, bought an outfit and shared it online, which helped turn the shop into a busier destination.

The owner frames the boost in terms of women backing women, a message that clearly lands with Rebecca, who ends up buying the pantsuit herself. The scene folds the store’s success story into the episode’s broader themes of friendship, support and reinvention, while also nodding to Swift’s real-life Kansas City connection, which later became part of her relationship with Travis Kelce.

How the idea made its way into the show

Executive producer Jamie Lee said the reference likely grew out of conversations in the writers’ room, where Swift was already a regular topic. She noted that the Eras Tour was taking place as the season was being written, or had just happened, and that some writers had attended while others wanted to. Lee added that Swift is difficult to avoid in conversation because of how prominent she is.

Season four of Ted Lasso is now streaming on Apple TV.
