With the fifth season of Outer Banks arriving this summer, Chase Stokes has plenty on his plate. The 33-year-old actor is also producing projects of his own, including The Valiant One on Hulu, serving as an ambassador at large for Bring Change to Mind, and making time for surfing near his home in Los Angeles when conditions are right. To keep up with that pace, he leans on a compact set of gear that helps him stay in motion wherever work takes him.

Portable gear for workouts, recovery, and travel

One of Stokes’ main fitness staples is a pack of resistance bands, which he says he brings everywhere. According to the report, he likes that they let him train even when his schedule is unpredictable or when a gym isn’t available. The set he uses ranges from lighter resistance to much heavier tension, making it useful for a variety of exercises on the go. He also packs New Balance 204L sneakers, noting that they work as an everyday travel shoe while still being suitable for a workout, which helps him avoid carrying an extra pair.

Recovery is part of the routine too. Stokes says sleep is important to him, especially when travel or stress makes it harder to unwind, so he uses NSF-certified melatonin before bed. For training sessions, he relies on noise-canceling Apple AirPods 4, though he jokes that keeping track of them is a challenge. Beyond the gym, surf culture remains a big part of his life; he grew up near Cocoa Beach, Florida, and now uses a Channel Islands surfboard designed to handle different wave conditions. At home, music still plays a role as well. Stokes keeps a Fender Stratocaster around and sometimes plays with Outer Banks co-star Drew Starkey, a nod to the musical influence he says started with his stepfather, who was a DJ.

Deciding what to pack for lunch can feel like a daily puzzle, whether you’re headed to the office, staying home between meetings, or trying to give last night’s leftovers a second life. According to the report, the best lunch doesn’t have to be complicated: it just needs to be tasty, easy to carry, and suited to the way you actually eat in the middle of the day.

The collection pulls together a wide range of ideas, from grain bowls and salads to sandwiches, handhelds, soups, and no-cook meals. Some options are built for make-ahead convenience, while others come together quickly with pantry staples or leftover ingredients. The point, the report suggests, is flexibility — lunch can be a hearty bowl one day and a simple snack-style spread the next.

From bowls to sandwiches to no-cook fixes

The lunch bowl section leans on familiar, adaptable combinations such as rice, grains, vegetables, beans, tofu, chicken, salmon, and bold sauces or dressings. Several of the ideas are designed to use leftovers well, including cooked rice, roasted vegetables, or extra protein from dinner. There are also plenty of cold-friendly choices, making them practical for packing ahead and eating later.

Sandwiches and handhelds get equal attention, with everything from tuna melts and veggie sandwiches to hoagies, tostadas, and breakfast sandwiches repurposed for midday eating. For days when cooking is not happening, the no-cook section offers quick assemblies like dips with vegetables or chips, chickpea-based mixes, cheese and cracker combinations, and other grab-and-go options. Across the board, the report emphasizes lunches that are easy to prep, easy to transport, and easy to repeat without getting boring.

Netflix’s ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’ Heads Toward a Tragic Finish in Part 2 https://magicmoments.com/netflixs-one-hundred-years-of-solitude-heads-toward-a-tragic-finish-in-part-2/ Wed, 05 Aug 2026 08:28:15 +0000 https://magicmoments.com/netflixs-one-hundred-years-of-solitude-heads-toward-a-tragic-finish-in-part-2/ The second half of Netflix’s adaptation continues the Buendía family saga as Macondo’s growth, conflict, and long-building curse move closer to their inevitable end.

The post Netflix’s ‘One Hundred Years of Solitude’ Heads Toward a Tragic Finish in Part 2 appeared first on .

]]>
Netflix’s adaptation of Gabriel García Márquez’s One Hundred Years of Solitude made a striking impression when its first eight episodes arrived in 2024, pairing lavish visuals with an unflinching approach to the novel’s more fantastical and difficult ideas. The story follows Macondo, a place that begins as a small village and expands into a thriving town while remaining tied to the curse that shadows its founders, José Arcadio Buendía and Úrsula Iguarán. Across generations, the Buendía family becomes inseparable from the town’s rise and decline, with war, revolution, and outside influence steadily pushing Macondo toward ruin.

According to the review, Part 1 focused on the promise of Macondo’s founding, while the first seven episodes of Part 2, directed by Laura Mora and Carlos Moreno, make the family’s fate feel unavoidable. Even as the town benefits from major inventions and signs of progress, the series keeps emphasizing how isolated Macondo has become from the rest of the world. That distance has preserved a kind of fragile ideal, but it also means every new arrival carries the potential to disrupt the Buendías’ solitude as the story moves toward its final collapse.

The Buendías Face the Consequences of Their Own History

In the aftermath of Part 1, the family is divided from within. Colonel Aureliano Buendía’s campaign to free Macondo from the Conservative Party clashes with Úrsula’s wish to keep the peace. Once a quiet artist, Aureliano has become a hardened revolutionary, but the report notes that he remains trapped in the violence of war even after its purpose has faded. During this period, he fathers 17 sons with 17 different women, and those mothers come to Úrsula seeking acknowledgment for their children, though none can be formally recognized as heirs.

The next generation also plays a major role in shaping Macondo’s future. Aureliano and José Arcadio Segundo, sons of Arcadio and Santa Sofía de la Piedad, are difficult to distinguish at first, yet their paths affect the town in very different ways. José Arcadio becomes an inventor whose work helps open Macondo to outsiders and leads to the arrival of a banana company, bringing both economic change and devastating consequences. Aureliano, meanwhile, is portrayed as impulsive and pleasure-seeking, and his relationship with Petra Cotes has an unexpected effect on the local livestock. When he later marries the deeply religious Fernanda del Carpio while continuing his affair with Petra, the resulting tension spreads through the family and destabilizes several of his children. The years that follow are marked by love, grief, loss, and repeated reminders of how fleeting life can be.

Which ‘The Challenge’ Couples Turned Showmances Into Real Relationships https://magicmoments.com/which-the-challenge-couples-turned-showmances-into-real-relationships/ Wed, 05 Aug 2026 08:24:28 +0000 https://magicmoments.com/which-the-challenge-couples-turned-showmances-into-real-relationships/ From marriages and babies to romances that faded, MTV's long-running competition has produced plenty of off-screen love stories.

The post Which ‘The Challenge’ Couples Turned Showmances Into Real Relationships appeared first on .

]]>
On MTV’s long-running competition series The Challenge, romance has become almost as familiar as eliminations and final runs. According to the report, the show has produced a steady stream of pairings over the years, with some relationships starting as strategic flirtations and others turning into lasting partnerships. The upcoming Season 42: Cutthroat, set to arrive on Paramount+ on Aug. 5, is expected to continue that pattern.

The article points to several recent examples of Challenge love stories that have gone beyond the house. Olivia Kaiser and Theo Campbell, who competed together on the show’s 41st season, later revealed they were expecting a baby. Olivia said in a December Instagram post that she was pregnant, adding that it came as a surprise. Their child, Atlas, is now 8 months old. The report also notes that Kam Williams and Leroy Garrett have built a family of their own, with two children after meeting on the series.

From competition to commitment

Kam Williams and Leroy Garrett are one of the franchise’s most established couples. After meeting on The Challenge: Vendettas, they later announced they were expecting in December 2021. Leroy proposed a month before their son Kingston was born in May 2022, and their daughter Aria arrived in February 2024. Kam has said in an Instagram post that finding love through a dating show and then reconnecting through competition led her to the “love of my life,” and the pair later eloped on Aug. 5, 2025.

The piece also revisits other well-known Challenge romances. Tori Deal has had several relationships tied to the franchise, including with Derrick Henry, Emanuel Neagu, Faysal Shafaat, and Jordan Wiseley, whom she became engaged to. Johnny “Bananas” Devenanzio, meanwhile, has also had multiple on-screen relationships, including with Natalie Negrotti and Moriah Jadea, and he dated Morgan Willett after they met on The Challenge: War of the Worlds. Even so, he has said that showmances can create more complications than benefits because they affect both players’ games. Still, the article makes clear that for many cast members, what begins in the house does not always end when filming does.

New Research Links Coffee to Lower Liver Cancer Risk in Active Adults https://magicmoments.com/new-research-links-coffee-to-lower-liver-cancer-risk-in-active-adults/ Mon, 27 Jul 2026 08:53:06 +0000 https://magicmoments.com/new-research-links-coffee-to-lower-liver-cancer-risk-in-active-adults/ According to a large study, coffee drinkers had a lower risk of liver complications, including liver cancer, with benefits seen in both regular and decaf coffee.

The post New Research Links Coffee to Lower Liver Cancer Risk in Active Adults appeared first on .

]]>
Coffee may be doing more than helping people get through a workout or early morning training session. According to new research published in Clinical Gastroenterology and Hepatology, regular coffee drinkers were less likely to develop several liver-related problems over time, including cirrhosis and liver cancer.

The study examined diet and health data from nearly 355,000 adults in the UK Biobank and followed participants for about 13 years. Researchers looked for liver complications, liver-related deaths, and signs of liver function. They found that people who drank five or more cups of coffee a day had a 32 percent lower risk of cirrhosis, a 47 percent lower risk of liver cancer, and a 42 percent lower risk of dying from a liver-related cause compared with non-drinkers. The benefits appeared with both regular and decaf coffee, and even smaller daily amounts were linked to some protection.

Why coffee may help

Experts quoted in the report said coffee contains more than caffeine. It also includes compounds such as chlorogenic acids, polyphenols, and diterpenes, which may have antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and anti-scarring effects. Those properties may help reduce oxidative stress, inflammation, and the processes that lead to liver fibrosis. The study also found that coffee drinkers had lower liver inflammation and higher levels of proteins associated with healthier liver function.

This is not the first time coffee has been tied to liver health. Earlier studies have linked coffee intake with lower risks of chronic liver disease and certain liver cancers. The report also notes that coffee has been associated in many studies with lower risks of heart disease, heart failure, and stroke, although effects can vary depending on how much is consumed and how it is prepared.

Gochujang, the thick fermented Korean chile paste, is at the center of this recipe roundup, which gathers 47 ways to use it across dinner, sides, and snacks. According to the report, the ingredient is a staple in Korean cooking and is essential to dishes such as tteokbokki, dakgalbi, and bibimbap, but its reach goes well beyond traditional recipes.

The collection shows how easily gochujang can be worked into marinades, glazes, sauces, soups, and even richer combinations with butter, mayonnaise, or cream. The result is a mix of recipes that lean spicy, sweet, savory, and deeply comforting, with options ranging from quick weeknight meals to stews, grilled meats, noodles, sandwiches, and vegetable dishes.

From fiery chicken to creamy noodles

Among the recipes highlighted are gochujang chicken stir-fry, gochujang-butter-braised tofu, tteokbokki, creamy gochujang gnocchi, cheesy buldak with rice cakes, kimchi udon with scallions, and gochujang sloppy joes. The list also includes sticky baked cauliflower, steak wraps, slow-roast chicken, turkey stuffed sweet potatoes, and gochujang-sesame noodles.

Several dishes draw on familiar Korean flavors, including dakgalbi, kimchi jjigae, spicy kimchi sujebi, sulguk, and braised chicken with crispy rice. The report notes that gochujang’s heat can vary by brand, so it is best to taste as you cook and adjust as needed. It also points out that gochujang should not be confused with gochugaru, which is a Korean red pepper powder rather than a fermented paste.

Can Some People Naturally Build Muscle Faster Than Others? https://magicmoments.com/can-some-people-naturally-build-muscle-faster-than-others/ Wed, 22 Jul 2026 10:14:46 +0000 https://magicmoments.com/can-some-people-naturally-build-muscle-faster-than-others/ According to the report, genetics, age, and training experience can all affect how quickly someone gains muscle, but everyone can build it with the right plan.

The post Can Some People Naturally Build Muscle Faster Than Others? appeared first on .

]]>
Some people seem to add muscle almost immediately after starting a strength program, while others move more slowly. According to the report, that difference is real: when people follow the same resistance-training plan, the results can vary widely. Experts say genetics play a major role, but training and nutrition still matter a great deal.

Genetics can influence body type, metabolism, recovery speed, and how the body responds to exercise and muscle-repair signals. One of the biggest factors is muscle-fiber makeup. Fast-twitch fibers are better suited to powerful, explosive work and may have more potential for growth, while slow-twitch fibers are more endurance-oriented. That means some people may gain size and strength faster than others, even on similar programs. Still, the report notes that training can modestly affect muscle-fiber profile over time, and there is no simple practical way to know an exact fiber breakdown without a muscle biopsy.

What else affects muscle growth?

Age is another factor. Younger adults, typically those under their mid-30s, often recover more quickly and may build strength and muscle faster because their bodies can handle training stress and repair tissue more efficiently. Older adults can still make strong progress, but they may need more recovery time between sessions. Training experience also matters: beginners often see quicker gains early on because their bodies are adapting to a new stimulus, a phase often called “newbie gains.”

Even with these differences, the report emphasizes that muscle growth is possible for everyone. As one expert put it, genetics help define the range of potential, but training and nutrition determine where someone lands within it. Building muscle is also presented as an important long-term investment, since it supports joint stability, balance, posture, injury protection, and the ability to stay active with age.

The post Inside A24’s Anthony Bourdain Biopic, Where Dominic Sessa Draws on Real Kitchen Experience appeared first on .

]]>
A24’s new film Tony uses Anthony Bourdain’s early years in Provincetown as the backdrop for a coming-of-age story centered on mistakes, ambition, and honesty. The movie follows a young Bourdain as he stumbles through college, then lands in the dish pit of a seafood restaurant, where his confidence quickly gives way to hard lessons about work and truth.

For Dominic Sessa, that world was not entirely unfamiliar. Before becoming known for screen work, he spent summers at Cathy’s 14th Street Bakery in Ocean City, New Jersey, starting at 13 as a dishwasher and gradually learning how to mix dough, cut donuts, fry them, ice them, and make croissants. He also handled early-morning openings on his own, which gave him real kitchen experience long before he stepped into the role of a young Bourdain.

Sessa has said that one bakery mistake stuck with him: he once used the wrong dough mix, watched it swell into a huge mess, and tried to hide it by dumping it outside, only for the dough to expand even more. According to him, the bakery owner’s reaction taught him an important lesson about accountability. In the film, that same idea runs through Bourdain’s story, as the character’s lies to family, employers, and a romantic interest gradually push him toward self-awareness.

The actor’s path also mirrors Bourdain’s in other ways. Bourdain left behind an unsuccessful college experience before eventually entering the Culinary Institute of America and later becoming a major literary and television figure. Sessa, meanwhile, began as a scholarship student at Deerfield Academy, where a skateboarding injury ended his hockey plans and led him to theater. He has said performing changed his life after people told him he was doing something they wished they were brave enough to try. That momentum eventually brought him to Alexander Payne’s The Holdovers and, now, to Tony, directed by Matt Johnson.

Johnson has said Sessa’s background, his relationship to education, and the sudden attention that came with fame all helped make him right for the part. The actor has also developed a real affection for Provincetown during filming, calling it magical and saying he could imagine one day having a beach house there. For a movie about a young man trying to become himself, that sense of place and personal history seems to matter just as much as the food.

Inside A24’s Anthony Bourdain Biopic, Where Dominic Sessa Draws on Real Kitchen Experience https://magicmoments.com/inside-a24s-anthony-bourdain-biopic-where-dominic-sessa-draws-on-real-kitchen-experience/ Wed, 22 Jul 2026 10:10:01 +0000 https://magicmoments.com/inside-a24s-anthony-bourdain-biopic-where-dominic-sessa-draws-on-real-kitchen-experience/ Dominic Sessa’s own background in bakery work and early stage acting helped shape his turn as a young Anthony Bourdain in the new coming-of-age film Tony.
